Biography
Tanja Ruždjak is a Croatian lirico-spinto soprano based in Vienna, performing regularly on opera and concert stages in Croatia and abroad. She completed her vocal studies at the Academy of Music in Zagreb under the guidance of Martina Zadro and Dunja Vejzović, and continued her postgraduate training at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in the class of Claudia Visca.
She has received numerous international awards, including the Grand Prix at the International Jānis Zābers Singing Competition in Riga, first prizes at the IMMC Maribor and Gabriela Beňačková competitions, and the Zagreb Philharmonic Award for Best Young Musician.
On the operatic stage, she has performed a wide range of notable roles, including Mimì and Musetta (La Bohème), Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito), Hanna Glawari (The Merry Widow), Gräfin Mariza, Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Jelena, Melka, and many others. Most recently, she appeared as Sieglinde.
As a concert soloist, she has performed works such as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Mozart’s and Verdi’s Requiems, and Bruckner’s Te Deum, collaborating with ensembles including the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra, Wiener Klang Symphony Orchestra, Croatian Armed Forces Symphony Orchestra, Varaždin Chamber Orchestra, Zagreb Soloists, Maribor Opera Orchestra, Sichuan Symphony Orchestra, and others.
Throughout her career, she has worked with conductors such as Pavle Dešpalj, Nikša Bareza, Leopold Hager, Hans Graf, David Danzmayr, Lorenzo Passerini, and Mason Luberto, and has appeared on international concert tours across Europe and Asia. Particularly noteworthy is her recent concert tour of China with the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Mason Luberto.
